Cairns Art Society is one of the region’s oldest and most respected community arts organisations and 2025 will be the 77th year that the Art Society has held their much-anticipated exhibition of selected works submitted by member artists.
Cairns Art Society was formed in 1931 to ‘promote an interest in art and where possible help individual artists to achieve their aims’, and today, nearly 100 years later, the not-for-profit association still strives to support local and regional artists by providing opportunities for exhibiting and social networking, workshops and professional development.
The Cairns Art Society Annual Awards Exhibition at the Cairns Art Gallery has become increasingly competitive and is seen as an important event in the FNQ calendar of the arts. Each year a panel of independent judges chooses the best entries for inclusion in the exhibition. The opening event includes the awarding of several prizes on the night with categories such as best oil painting, best acrylic painting and best digital art. Prizes are generously donated by local businesses and individual sponsors.
Sponsors for 2025 include Cairns Taxis, Cazalys, the Ireland Family, ADhesive Communication, Michael Healy MP and Highscan.
