Rosey Cummings lives and works in far north Queensland. Her work is based on the traditions of waving, fibre art and sculpture through which she explores environmental issues, especially those of the coastal and marine environments of the region in which she lives.
I collect local materials from my immediate environment and plant fibres which have died naturally and frequently incorporate found objects into my work. What the work looks like changes according to the environment I’m in, what I find and the local environmental issues.
