Michael (Boiyool) Anning was born in 1955 and he currently lives and works in Ravenshoe, Queensland.
Michael’s shields, swords and sculptural carvings are based on traditional styles and materials, and include different ochres found on Country. His carved and decorated wooden Big-uun (shields) and Nalan Gugal (fire makers) continue a tradition developed by his Yidinji ancestors.
Michael’s work has been widely exhibited in Australia and overseas and he is represented in numerous public and private collections.
