Maljah Cathy Snow was born in 1954 in Normanton, Queensland, where she continues to live and work.
Snow's paintings depict contemporary versions and interpretations of her mother’s traditional stories and song lines and include representations of marine life including saltwater and freshwater mussels, water and tidal marks. For Cathy, painting is an important way of sharing traditional stories with people from all walks of life, including her three children and six grandchildren.
The artist's work has been included in a number of regional group exhibitions, and in 2021 her first solo exhibition entitled Maljay Cathy Snow: Barlawink, My Mothers Country, was held at the Cairns Art Gallery, Queensland.
