Francesca Rosa was born in Innisfail, Queensland, in 1971 and now lives and works in Etty Bay, Queensland. Francesca is a photo-media artist.
Francesca’s work explores local and personal histories of migrant families - their journeys, experiences, memories and cultural traditions. In 2017, her exhibition Memoria at the Cairns Art Gallery explored the history of Italian migration to Far North Queensland, with a particular focus on her own family who were amongst the many post-WWII Italians who arrived in Cairns to work in the sugarcane industry. Through personal memorabilia, historical artefacts, and archival records she presented a complex narrative about being a non-English speaking migrant in Australia.
Francesca’s work has been included in several group and solo exhibitions and her work is represented in public and private collections.
