Amanda Emmett is a Cairns-based artist who predominantly works in the media of painting and photography. Her solo exhibition at the Cairns Art Gallery in 2022 presented a new body of works that focussed on life forms and the increasing threat they face as a result of human intervention.
Amanda grew up in a family of professional artists and at a very young age was encouraged to explore what lies beneath the surface - to give feeling, form and function to abstract emotions and concepts. She describes this as ‘revealing what we do not see but know’ and says this is the basis of her art practice.
For Amanda the world is in a state of transition and fragility. Through her intricate paintings she encourages us to consider positive actions and outcomes we can achieve if we work together to identify remedies and renewal strategies to keep our planet alive.
